Layla Timergazi

Layla Timergazi (* 2001 ) is a New Zealand chess player .

Layla Timergazi learned to play chess from her parents at the age of seven. Their first club was the Wellington Chess Club .

As a 13-year-old she played for the New Zealand women's national team at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø on the first reserve board and received the title of FIDE Women's Champion (WFM) for her positive result of 7 points from 10 games . At the Wellington Open 2015 she was split first. In January 2017, she won the women's oceanic zone tournament in Auckland , for which she received the title of International Women's Champion.

Your Elo rating is 2032 (as of April 2020); it leads the New Zealand Elo ranking for women. Her highest rating to date was 2073 from February to August 2017.
