Leonidas Barletta

Leónidas Barletta (born August 30, 1902 in Buenos Aires , † March 15, 1975 ibid) was an Argentine journalist and writer.

Life

At the age of 28, Barletta founded the Teatro del Pueblo in his hometown in 1930 and from March 20, 1931 until the end of his life he was director of it. This stage is considered one of the first experimental theaters in Latin America.

In addition, from 1935, Barletta was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine “Conducta” and, a little later, also the daily newspaper “Propósitos”. He also wrote regularly for “La Prensa”.

In addition to Roberto Arlt , Élias Castelnuove , Álvaro Yunque u. a. Barletta belonged to the mostly socialist-anarchist grouping Grupo Boedo .
