Álvaro Yunque , actually Arístides Gandolfi Herrero , (born June 20, 1889 in La Plata , Province of Buenos Aires , † January 8, 1982 in Tandil , Province of Buenos Aires) was an Argentine dramaturge, journalist and writer.

Life

Yunque was descended from Italian immigrants, his father Adán Gandolfi came from Milan , his mother came from Argentina. At the age of twelve, Yunque came to Buenos Aires with his family and attended the Colegio Nacional Central there . In 1908 he moved to the Universidad de Buenos Aires to study natural sciences, among other things.

He then got a job as a mathematics teacher, but only practiced the profession for a short time. As a journalist he was able to publish in almost all daily newspapers in Argentina and at the same time he acted as the editor of various newspapers and magazines ("Rumbo", "Campana de Palo", "El Patriota").

In 1913 he broke off this course without a degree and from then on devoted himself only to literature and writing. Together with Leónidas Barletta and Leónidas Barletta, Yunque was one of the more important representatives of the literary association Grupo Boedo .

In 1925 Yunque was one of the founding members of the Teatro Libre and later also directed a traveling theater for some time . In 1929 Yunque married his distant relative Albina Gandolfi and had two children with her; Adalbo and Alba.

Álvaro Yunque died on January 8, 1982 at the age of 92 in Tandil, where he found his final resting place.
