Le Clou is a French-German-Scottish Cajun band.

history

Le Clou was founded in 1976 by the three French Yves Gueit, Michel David and Yannick Monot and quickly established itself on the European folk scene. The band brought Cajun music to a broad European audience , a francophone style of music from the US state of Louisiana that is cultivated by descendants of French settlers who immigrated from Canada.

In 1982 the German-Armenian violinist and guitarist Johannes Epremian joined the group. 1986 Yannick Monot left the band.

1995 Le Clou was expanded to a quintet by the bassist Gero Gellert and the drummer Ralph Schläger. In 2017 Michel David was replaced by Steve Crawford from Aberdeen .
