The ten issues of the magazine Le fils du Père Duchêne illustré appeared in Paris during the time of the Paris Commune . The few editions illustrate the most important events of this eventful time. It is particularly noteworthy that the last issue, which appeared during the bloody week , even depicts the end of the Paris Commune. The title referred to the magazine Le père Duchesne, which was popular during the French Revolution .

The front page of each issue showed a colored political caricature , often directed against Adolphe Thiers . The small-format booklets each had eight pages and appeared weekly. The respective date of publication was given following the French Revolutionary Calendar , i.e. from 1 Floréal to 79 to 4 Prairial .
