Superman is a song by the American rapper Eminem that he recorded with R&B singer Dina Rae . The song is the third single from his fourth studio album The Eminem Show and was released on January 27, 2003 exclusively in the USA .

content

The text is rapped from the perspective of women and men, with Eminem taking on the male part and the singer Dina Rae taking on the female part. Both use the lyric self in their roles. In the intro the woman says that she is high and the man says that he has to tell her something. Then the chorus begins, in which both of them affirm their "love" for each other and the man says that he is Superman and ready to save her in his world. In the first verse, Eminem raps about the fact that the man is now single again and would no longer allow himself to be involved in a relationship by a slut who ran along, but was only after sex. There is also an allusion to the singer Mariah Carey (" What you Mariah? "), Who is said to have had an affair with Eminem . In the now changed refrain it says that sluts come and go from Monday to Sunday and that the man cannot be their Superman. The second verse is mainly about jealousy and alludes to the incident that Eminem caught his ex-wife Kim with another man and then threatened him with a gun. Between the last two stanzas, Eminem mimicked women's voices, simulating a meaningless dialogue that alludes to Eminem's tattoo "red in pieces". The man says that women lie and that is why he doesn't love them enough to trust them. In the third verse, the lyrical self's aversion to women even culminates in violence, so it is said that the slut is beaten until she can no longer stand (“ slap you till you can't stand ”), and he would go along with her Infect anthrax through your tampon (" Put Anthrax on a Tampax ").
