Leberecht Adolf Orlando Keferstein

Leberecht Adolf Orlando Keferstein (born November 19, 1802 in Kröllwitz ; † October 14, 1836 ) was a German paper miller, from 1828 to 1836 owner of a paper mill in Berlin-Köpenick and inventor.

He was the son of Philipp Sebastian Ludwig Keferstein (1754-1834), a paper miller, and his wife (married October 14, 1790), the daughter Rahel Charlotte of the paper manufacturer Drewsen in Lachendorf near Celle. Leberecht Adolf Orlando Keferstein had five siblings, including the paper manufacturer Albrecht Ludwig Keferstein in Kröllwitz. He married Caroline Emilie Gleisberger on September 18, 1828 and had two children with her.

Life

In 1832 Keferstein received the Prussian patent for the production of Chinese paper. He was one of the first to deliver paper to America from 1833 onwards. A year earlier, he installed a steam engine in his company. After his death in 1836 the mill was sold to J. Rosenheim and converted into a leather and cloth factory.
