Lech Gardocki (born April 13, 1944 in Rydzew ) is a Polish legal scholar, law professor and from 1998 to 2010 President of the Polish Supreme Court ( Polish: Sąd Najwyższy Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej ).

Life

Lech Gardocki studied 1961 to 1966 at the University of Warsaw Law . He completed his studies with a master's degree and then worked as an assistant at the chair for criminal law . In 1969 he passed the judge's examination , two years later Gardocki received his doctorate with service crimes in the legislation of socialist states . He then worked as an adjunct (about lecturer / junior professor) at Warsaw University. In 1979 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on questions of liability for crimes abroad . From 1979 to 1984 he was deputy director at the Institute for Criminal Law at the University of Warsaw. Subsequently he was head of the chair for comparative criminal law. There he was appointed associate professor in 1991 and full professor in 1992. In 1996 Gardocki became head of the Chair of Criminal Law. On July 4, 1996 he was appointed judge for criminal law, and on October 17, 1998, first president of the Polish Supreme Court . In this capacity he was confirmed for a second term in 1996. In 2010 he was replaced by Stanisław Dąbrowski . In addition to this activity, he is also a member of the international advisory committee for the journal for the entire field of criminal law .
