The Leckner See is a mountain lake in Austria in the area of the Molasse zone . The Leckner See is located in the municipality of Hittisau at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level. A. and has an area of 1.75 ha and a maximum water depth of approx. 3 meters. The Leckner Ache flows through the lake.
Based on the available chemical-physical analysis results, the Leckner See is to be classified as a nutrient-poor body of water. The species of plant plankton ( phytoplankton ) found and the low frequencies indicate that the water body is poor in nutrients. The species community of the higher aquatic plants (macrophytes) shows a low - with a tendency to moderately high - nutrient load for the Leckner See. An additional analysis of the lake sediments shows that the lake floor is composed of nutrient-poor and low-pollutant sediments.
From a geological point of view, the lake lies in the area of the folded molasse, whereby the valley floor is covered by a glacial moraine . The sediments show only low levels of heavy metals . These are geogenically determined, an anthropogenic influence cannot be derived.
Emergence
According to an information board attached to the bank, the Lecknersee is said to have been created in 1817 during a natural disaster in a place where previously there were “lush meadows”.
natural reserve
The Leckner See is shown in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory as a biotope worthy of protection (biotope number 21605): “... Brief diagnosis: Lecknersee with beautiful spawns and beak sedge silting zone and subsequent panicle sedge swamps and Davalls sedge marshes . ... "
