Lee Oskar (* 24. March 1948 , Copenhagen , Denmark as Oskar Levetin Hansen ) is a Danish-American harmonica player and instrument maker. He became known through his collaboration with Eric Burdon and War .

Life

Lee got his first harmonica from a family friend at the age of six. He grew up on Danish radio, where he also listened to Ray Charles, the greatest influence of the time. At 17 he moved to New York, where he earned his living as a street musician. He moved from New York to Los Angeles, where he met Eric Burdon, with whom he played in the city's clubs. Soon the formation "War" was formed, in which Oskars playing harmonica with Charles Miller's saxophone formed the horn section. He played in this formation until 1992. After leaving War, he devoted himself to his solo career and commercial ventures.

In 1983 Oskar founded the company Lee Oskar Harmonica for the distribution of high-quality harmonicas that are used for a variety of styles, such as blues, folk or rock. In addition to this company, he also founded a production company based in Redmond.
