Tom van der Leegte (born March 27, 1977 in Bergeyk , Netherlands ) is a former Dutch football player .

Van der Leegte was a football fanatic from an early age. He joined the EMK Nuenen . Then he moved to the youth team of the Dutch top club PSV Eindhoven . In 1994 he was promoted to the club's professional team. Just two years later he left PSV and moved to local rivals RKC Waalwijk . There he never got past 30 missions. For this reason he moved to FC Twente Enschede in 2000 . And again he came to few missions there. So he was awarded back to RKC Waalwijk during the winter break of the 2002/03 season. In summer 2003 he moved to ADO Den Haag , where he flourished. For the first time in his career he made 30 appearances and became a regular player. The 1.79 m tall defensive midfielder consequently switched to Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg two and a half years later for the winter break of the 2005/2006 season , where he wore the shirt number 14. There he developed into an important defensive regular player. For family reasons he moved back to his home country for PSV Eindhoven for the 2007/08 season. But after just one season he moved to NAC Breda , having only made three appearances at PSV. Just two years later he ended his career due to various injuries.
