reception

The anime is nicely animated, but the character design is often criticized as crude and simple, writes Daniel Huddleston in the Animerica . The fight scenes are well staged and so the three episodes offer a satisfactory conclusion to the plot that the previous film had started. According to Karsten Schubert from Anime no Tomodachi, the OVA shows a similar quality of the drawings as the film, but without its temporary defects. The animation would be easier, but overall okay. The background music would largely be that of the film, but the few pieces that were added would be good. The plot offers a supplement to the film and explanations that were neglected in the film.
