Lehmann is an impact crater on the western edge of the front of the moon , immediately north of the edge of the Schickard whale plain . The rim of the crater is heavily eroded, the interior largely flat. An opening in the southern rim of the crater connects the interior of the crater to the crater level of the Schickard.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Jacob Heinrich Wilhelm Lehmann .
