The Lehr-Escadron-Kaserne was a barracks building and a military detention center in Berlin-Kreuzberg . Colloquially she was also called father Philipp . It was built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and is a total loss in the Second World War . The building was located at Lindenstrasse 36, at the corner of Feilnerstrasse, and was demolished after 1945 because of the war damage.
history
The Lehr-Escadron-Kaserne was built from 1817 to 1818 for the training of the squadron of the Prussian cavalry and was one of Schinkel's first brick buildings. The place major Philipp, who gave the building his name, lived there. After the new barracks building was built in 1841, the building was only used as a military detention center. Hence the soldier's saying : Received from father Philip in the sense of arrest.
