The Matsumoto Pond is a freshwater tümpel in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the South Fork of the Wright Valley, it lies south of Dais Col and 2.2 km west of Don Juan Lake .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1997 after the Japanese chemist Genki I. Matsumoto, a member of four Japanese teams (1976–1977, 1981–1982, 1983–1984 and 1985–1986), the geophysical and geochemical investigations in the waters of the Antarctic dry valleys including the pond described here.
