Teacher Online

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teacher-Online is a project of Schools on the Net e. V., a non-profit association with a social educational mandate, was created and funded by the BMBF. In 2008 lo-net GmbH was founded as an operating company for teachers online and lo-net². In 2014 the GmbH was renamed Eduversum GmbH.

The Lehrer-Online portal offers teachers , trainee teachers and student teachers a partly free, partly fee-based Internet service for all aspects of the use of new media in schools. The focus is on practical lessons from the school practice of the various types of schools and school levels , as well as various network-based tools that teachers pedagogically should be used sensibly and without any major preparations in the classroom everyday.

history

The idea from which Lehrer-Online arose, to offer teachers suggestions and assistance in integrating the computer and the Internet profitably into subject lessons and other school contexts. After the association Schulen ans Netz e. V. had already equipped German schools with Internet access for two years, the content-based offer Lehrer-Online was developed in 1998 to accompany this equipment initiative.

Schools on the Net e. V. and DigiOnline GmbH jointly founded lo-net GmbH in 2008 as the operating company for teachers online and lo-net² in order to ensure the continuation of the portals even after the end of the federal subsidy. At the end of 2009, Universum Verlag, Wiesbaden, joined as a partner. After DigiOnline GmbH and the Schule ans Netz association (2011) left the company as shareholders, Eduversum GmbH, Wiesbaden, is now the operating company of the Lehrer-Online portal. The partners are Sirius eEducation GmbH and Pabst Media Beteiligungs GmbH.

In July 2016, Lehrer-Online was revised and offers new options for personalization, some of which are chargeable.

main emphasis

Teacher Online is a free internet service in its basic offering that provides prospective and everyday teachers with information about the use of digital media in schools.

The core of the offer are the teaching practice portals for primary school, vocational training and subjects of the secondary levels I and II. The main focus of the portals are the materials in the category teaching practice. Here you will find complete series of lessons with worksheets, internet resources and didactic commentary on different topics of the respective subjects or school types, some of which are free of charge, some are associated with costs.

Authors

Specialist teachers are active as authors for Lehrer-Online, who are already actively using the new media in the classroom and who publish tried and tested lesson drafts on Lehrer-Online. The material is designed so that it can be adapted to your own teaching. The practical teaching offer is accompanied by subject-specific news and dates referring to competitions and events. A forum is used for communication between colleagues and is supervised by specialist advisors who support the editorial team with their experiences from school practice.

In addition, the offer offers further information areas on media competence , new media law as well as an area “Current” with daily news and appointments from the areas of school, education and new media.

Teacher Online is overseen by an editorial team made up of educational specialists. The editors research reports and dates and look after the authors.

lo-net

The lo-net service was terminated in 2006 and replaced by the lo-net² platform. The lo-net network was a working platform for teaching in “virtual classrooms” and for electronic exchange between teachers and students. A virtual classroom consisted of its own e-mail service , a forum , an appointment calendar and the option of making files available to other users.

lo-net²

Lo-net², a licensed version of WebWeaver School, has been available since November 2006 as a further development of the lo-net work platform. A messenger, notes, bookmarks and wikis have also been added. Cornelsen Verlag has been the new owner of the platform since November 23, 2010 .

Primolo

With the interactive Primolo platform, children between the ages of eight and twelve learn, accompanied by their educational staff, to use and design the Internet safely. The heart of the Primolo platform is the website generator - a tool for the simple creation of websites in school and extracurricular education. Primolo is offered by Eduversum GmbH. The current version of Primolo went online in September 2011.

Primolo combines elements of an editorially maintained children's website with those of a community. While the earlier Primolo was primarily aimed at elementary school classes, classes and groups from lower secondary level and extracurricular education (in daycare centers, youth centers, libraries) can now also be registered by their teachers or educational specialists.

The new platform is supplemented by a wide range of editorial content and additional digital functions. Children can read the latest news and click tips, create their own profile in a private area, create photo albums, write messages and much more.

There is a special area for teachers in which materials on the use of Primolo and other media-educational topics are made available. This is expanded by a community in which educators can network and exchange ideas.

Primolo is funded by “A Network for Children”. This is a joint initiative of politics, business and institutions of youth media protection, the aim of which is to create an attractive and safe surfing area for children aged eight to twelve. The initiative is supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

criticism

In an overview of the taz in 2012, the network of companies around the FDP party was shown - including the Universum Verlag and the Lehrer-Online-GmbH. Pabst Media Beteiligungs GmbH is also a 50% shareholder in the current operating company of Lehrer-Online - Eduversum GmbH. In a Spiegel article from 2010 as well as the taz overview, the company connections and personal connections are shown and stated: "A non-profit association offers teachers free teaching materials. Many of the publications from the economy are paid for - and the FDP earns money on sales."
