history

On July 25, 1291 Pulow was first mentioned as "Pulowe". The place name Pulow is of Slavic origin, the name is not interpreted. On May 28, 2016, the place celebrated its 725th anniversary.

The settlement is probably much older: Archaeological finds show that the region was consistently settlement area. Archaeologists found numerous large stone graves from the Neolithic and tumuli from the Bronze Age on the heights of Wehrland .

There was a legend from the time around 1136, when Albrecht I invaded and there was a violent dispute between the Slavs and the Brandenburgers. During this battle, the Knight of Lepel was wounded, but was taken in and cared for in the village. After his recovery he married the daughter of the Polaben and thus founded the noble family von Lepel . The Pulow Tower, whose castle is the basis for the later estate, dates from the early German period after 1230.

Pulow was not an ancestral estate of a noble family. In the following centuries, the owner changed several times. This was further promoted by the fact that the soils of the estate were not very productive. In 1875 Peter Baron von le Fort purchased the 300 hectare property. He is also considered the owner of the manor house, which was built around 1900. Pulow was part of an estate (Pertinenz) with Groß Jasedow to Gut Papendorf and remained in the possession of the Baron von Lefort until 1917 (new name form).

In 1917 a Mr. Körting bought the estate. A tragedy has come down to us from 1920: Ilse Körting, the owner's wife, grew up as Countess Georgine von Budussin in Berlin , but had to marry her husband in 1918 at the age of 17. She couldn't get used to the rural life and shot herself. Today the estate is still inhabited and not open to the public.

Until December 31, 2004 the municipality Pulow belonged administratively to the former Amt Ziethen . The community was incorporated into the city of Lassan with the local elections on June 7, 2009 with the districts of Klein Jasedow, Papendorf and Waschow .
