Leia (also: Leya, Leja ; læjɑ) is a female given name . The name day is March 25th.

The name has u. a. by the Star Wars series, in which one of the main characters is Princess Leia , as a first name increased in popularity.

The name Leia can be derived from the Spanish ley and Portuguese lei (cf. the Latin lex 'law') with the meaning "law" or in the figurative sense "faithful to the law" or "faithful to the law".
