The Mortuary Cave is a cave in Balve . It is located on a rock face of the Devonian mass limestone near Binolen , to the east and about 25 meters above the bottom of the Hönne valley . The owner is the Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalkwerke , Ober-Rödinghausen.
The cave is about 35 m long. At the end of the tube cave there is an approximately 20 m² room. Skeletal finds indicate that the room was used as a burial place during the Bronze or Iron Ages. Bats hibernate here from November to April.
