The light kitchens AG (proper spelling: EASY ) is a German manufacturer of fitted kitchens , based in ostwürttembergischen Waldstetten in Baden-Wuerttemberg . The company employs 610 people at its home site in Waldstetten and Kirchheim and achieved sales of approx. 137 million euros.
history
In 1928 the company was founded by the brothers Alois and Josef Leicht in Schwäbisch Gmünd as a "mechanical joinery". In the 1940s, Leicht developed the first add-on kitchen with a dimension and grid system that is still valid today. In 1954, Leicht presented a colored add-on kitchen called "Colora". In 1968, at the Cologne furniture fair, the first all-plastic kitchen - "The kitchen from the retort " - was presented. In 1975 the company was taken over by Welle Holding and continued as an independent company.
In 1993 the company was transferred to Leicht Küchen AG. Today the company is a non-listed subsidiary of Welle- Holding . Shares are still in family ownership. In 2014 the company opened its own training and exhibition center.
Business data
In 2016, Leicht achieved a turnover of 124 million euros with 570 employees, 55% of which abroad and 45% in Germany. In 2013 the turnover was around 96 million euros, with an export share of around 60%. Distribution channels can be found in more than 55 countries worldwide.
The company produces at two locations in Germany (in Waldstetten on 40,000 m² and Kirchheim unter Teck on 15,000 m²).
Prizes and awards
Leicht has already won several design awards - including the Iconic Awards: Interior Innovation in 2017, awarded by the German Design Council .
