Erhard Schwerin ( April 8, 1939 - October 16, 2016 ) was a German football goalkeeper . During his career he played 20 games in the Bundesliga with Hamburger SV . He was the first player to be substituted on in a Bundesliga match.

career

Schwerin came from Tasmania Berlin to the amateurs of Hamburger SV in 1961 , before he was accepted into the Bundesliga squad for the 1964/65 season together with Holger Dieckmann and Peter Woldmann in the “Rothosen” team. He made his debut in the upper house of German football on March 30, 1965 in the away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Lautern won the home game with 2-1 goals. It was the 24th matchday and Schwerin completed three more season games under coach Georg Gawliczek . Despite the external newcomers Heiko Kurth , Andreas Máté and Juhani Peltonen , the "Rautträger" only finished 11th. In goal was, for many years before in the Oberliga Nord , Horst Schnoor , the undisputed master force.

In his second season as a licensed footballer, 1965/66, the 1.80 m tall Schwerin did not get beyond his previous status with another three appearances. He was used in various friendly games such as against Stockport County and Palloseura Turku as well as in the DFB Cup in the 4-0 home win against Borussia Neunkirchen on February 18, 1966 in the HSV team, which was reinforced by Willi Schulz and Egon Horst , but they did not more than ninth place. In his third year in the Bundesliga, 1966/67 , Schwerin was able to expand his personal record with 10 league appearances and three DFB Cup appearances, including the special test on May 6, 1967 in the valuable 3-1 home win in the semi-finals against Alemannia Aachen, but the HSV disappointed under coach Josef Schneider with the 14th place in the final ranking of the league again. Thanks to his participation in international friendly matches such as against Sparta Prague and the benefit match for José Santamaría on September 15, 1966 at Real Madrid, this round had gone well for the goalkeeper, even if he played in the DFB Cup final on June 10, 1967 against Bayern Munich had to give Schnoor the right of way again.

For the 1967/68 season, his club signed another goalkeeper Özcan Arkoç and he remained number two, now behind the newcomer from Vienna. Under coach Kurt Koch and the soccer boss Georg Knöpfle he was used in the first three round games. Despite the powerful newcomers with Werner Krämer and Franz-Josef Hönig , HSV finished 13th in the bottom of the Bundesliga. On September 6, 1967 Schwerin was in the European Cup Winners' Cup in a 5-3 home win against Randers Freja in goal. He left HSV after the end of the round and played from the 1968/69 season, like his colleague Willi Giesemann , in the then second -rate regional football league at HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst .

In the Blue-Yellow of "BU" the keeper experienced in the 1970/71 season under coach Edgar "Edu" Preuss and alongside players like Horst Engel , Willy Giesemann, Klaus Fock , Rolf Höfert , Harald Münster and Ernst cross a successful lap, which was completed at the end of the lap with fifth place. In the summer of 1971 Schwerin ended his playing career after a total of 47 regional league appearances.

He then went into business for himself in the construction industry.
