The LG Passau is a Bavarian athletics community in Passau , consisting of the parent clubs TV 1862 Passau and DJK Eintracht Passau .

history

With the aim of becoming the strongest athletics club in Lower Bavaria , on March 7, 1970, TV 1862 Passau merged with DJK Eintracht Passau and DJK Passau-West to form the Athletics Association (LG) Passau in order to prevent more and more successful Passau athletes from becoming bigger Bavarian associations emigrated. On March 7, 1970, Peter Farnholz (TV 1862 Passau), Lothar Wagner (DJK Eintracht Passau) and Norbert Vogl (DJK Passau-West) signed the founding document for the first athletics community in Lower Bavaria . The DJK Passau-West left the community at the beginning of 1985 due to a lack of athletes.

Investments

The sports facilities of the two main clubs are available as training grounds: The Jahnturnhalle of TV 1862 Passau in the Innstadt and the Oberhaus training area of DJK Eintracht Passau.

Sporting successes

With the athletics department of 1. FC Passau , also newly founded in 1970, there is strong inner-city competition. At the LG Passau, the long and medium-distance running department, which is trained by Günter Zahn , is nationally successful. Among others, athletes such as Martin Friedrich , Richard Friedrich , Stefan Hohberger , Florian Kapfer , Tobias Schreindl , Johannes Schuster , Julia Vielfalthner , Tina Fischl , Raphael Vielfalthner and Sebastian Weichelt dominated the southern German runner scene from 2004.
