Leiden cabaret festival
The Leiden Cabaret Festival ( Dutch Leids Cabaret Festival ) is a cabaret festival that has been held annually in the Dutch city of Leiden since 1978 . The festival was launched as a counter-event to the Cameretten and was intended to offer up-and-coming artists the chance to perform in front of a broad audience with their program.
Since then, the festival has established itself in the Dutch comedy and cabaret scene and has served many young talents as a starting point for their careers.
Since its inception, the festival has taken place on the stage of the Leiden Schouwburg , the oldest theater in the Netherlands.
