history

The company was founded in 1999 as Rail Management GmbH & Co. KG and received approval in May 2001 to provide rail transport services for people and goods, and one month later approval to open operations as a public rail transport company. In 2008 the company joined the General Contract for the Use of Freight Cars. In 2008, a maintenance and repair hall in Delitzsch at the lower station was put into operation. At the beginning of 2018 the company moved to Leipzig.

Accidents

On December 7, 2012, an empty freight train driven by LEG collided with a truck at a L 50 level crossing near Wanzleben . There was only slight damage to property. Although the level crossing was properly secured by a security guard, it was so poorly lit that the truck driver could not see it. The barrier system was dismantled in 2008. Even before the accident, the city had asked for an improvement in the safety of the level crossing.

Trivia

132 158-7 from LEG

The BR 232 with the NVR number 92 80 0232 158-8 carries the DR plate with the number 132 158, the BR 155 with the NVR no. 91 80 6155 137-3 the DR plate with the number 250 137. From the outside, both locomotives, including the number plates, look almost like the days of the Deutsche Reichsbahn . The other BR 232 and the four BR 202 also have the color scheme of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, but license plates with the post-reunification series numbers.

LEG also acquired further vehicles of the 232 series in December 2015. These include the former DB locomotive 92 80 1232 701-3 (ex DR 132 701-4). In 1989 it pulled some of the special trains with which GDR refugees were transported from the Prague embassy to the Federal Republic of Germany.
