Lemi Gsteiger (born December 30, 1946 in Meiringen as Karl Gsteiger ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( trombone ) from Dixieland , known by the artist name Lemi .

Live and act

While still at school, Gsteiger founded the Lemis Dixieland Band , which experienced its boom in the 1980s. At the beginning of 2012 he broke up his band. In mid-2008 he became a member of the Harlem Hot Seven ; Since 2012 he has also been a member of the Swiss Ramblers Dixieland Jazzband , and since 2017 of the Loverfield Jazzband . As a freelance musician, he is also active in numerous other bands on the Dixieland scene. Since January 2014 he has been organizing monthly concerts with subsequent jam sessions .

Gsteiger's trombone playing is very reminiscent of his role model Chris Barber , whom he met in the 1990s. The musical virtuosity of his instruments and his feeling for old jazz make Lemi a very popular amateur musician in the traditional style. Lemi's musical stations include Mr. Pfluger's Jazzband , Wild Live Jazzband , Dixie Brothers , Swiss Dixie Stompers and New Orleans Hots Shots .
