It is located on the southern side of Lemsdorfer Weg in Magdeburg's Sudenburg district . Lemsdorfer Weg 8, 10 , which is also a listed building, is adjacent to the west and Lemsdorfer Weg 14 to the east .
Architecture and history
The residential and commercial building was built in 1887 in the neo-baroque style . The construction was carried out by the building contractor Wilhelm Hoffmann for the sculptor Gustav Glasermann . In addition to the five-storey house standing at the eaves on the street, two side wings and a rear building were grouped around a courtyard . A workshop with a studio was built for Glasermann on the ground floor and first floor of the rear building. The facade of the front building is designed with seven axes, with the two axes on the left side being emphasized by a particularly rich decoration. These two axes are fully plastered, while the right part of the facade on the upper two floors was left unplastered. The ground floor is structured with plaster bands. Overall, the facade is lavishly decorated with three-dimensional decorative elements.
In the local register of monuments , the residential and commercial building is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 82088 .
The house is located within a row of streets that has largely been preserved in its original form and is considered to be a defining feature of the street. It is also considered a testimony to the urban expansion of the industrialization phase.
