Lenka Kotková

Lenka Kotková (born Šarounová ; born July 26, 1973 in Dobřichovice ) is a Czech astronomer .

She is a distinguished discoverer of asteroids. She works at the Ondřejov observatory near Prague . In addition to several asteroids in the main belt, she discovered (9671) Hemera (this asteroid crosses the orbit of Mars) and (21804) Václavneumann (a member of the Hilda group ).

In 2000 she received the Zdenek Kvíz Award from the Czech Astronomical Society ( ČAS Česká astronomická společnost) for her work on variable stars .

The asteroid (10390) Lenka was named after her on July 28, 1999; he was discovered by her colleagues Petr Pravec and Marek Wolf in 1997. The asteroid (60001) Adélka , discovered by Lenka Kotková in 1999, is named after her daughter.
