Neighboring towns are Karlík and Vonoklasy in the north, Stará Vráž, Nová Vráž, Dolní Mokropsy and Černošice in the northeast, Horní Mokropsy in the east, Všenory in the southeast, Černolice in the south, Řevnice in the southwest and Lety in the west.

history

The first written mention of Dobřichovice was on April 6, 1253 when Wenceslaus I left the place to the Lords of the Cross with the Red Star . The original settlement was one and a half kilometers north on the site of today's Karlík and was the seat of the Dobřichův family. In the Hussite Wars , the fortress on the Berounka was destroyed, and Dobřichovice belonged to different lords from then on, before it was returned to the Lords of the Cross in 1505. The order expanded the regained property and instead of the desolate festivals, Grand Master Zbynko Berka of Duba and Leipa had a renaissance castle built.

In the Thirty Years War the Swedes burned the town and castle down in 1631. After the castle was rebuilt in 1665 under Grand Master Ernst Adalbert von Harrach , Grand Master Jiří Ignác Pospíchal had the Chapel of St. Add Judas Squidward to it. In 1779 the castle burned down and received its present baroque appearance during the reconstruction.

Until the abolition of patrimonial rule in 1848, Dobřichovice remained subordinate to the Lords of the Cross, who also remained the owners of the castle property. In 1862, when the railway from Prague- Smíchov to Pilsen was put into operation, Dobřichovice got a train station on the right bank of the Berounka. In 1872 Dobřichovice suffered severe damage in the great flood of the Berounka. The elevation to the market town took place in 1876. During this time the place became a summer resort for the Prague people. In 1896 the construction of the first bridge over the Berounka began, which was inaugurated the following year. On the right bank of the river, the district Dobřichovice 2.dil was created. From 1900, the railway was expanded to two tracks and in 1911 the new weir was built in the Berounka. From 1918 the area grew and several single-family housing estates were built up until the 1930s. After the Second World War, there was also a stronger development on the right bank. In 1941, 1947, 1981 and 1985 the river flooded parts of the city. The former district of Karlík became independent in 1992. In 1996 the bridge was rebuilt, whereby the old pillars were retained. Dobřichovice has had coats of arms and banners since 1997; in 2006 the city was raised.
