history

The first written mention of Vraný and Skochovice took place in 993 in the founding deed of the Břevnov monastery ; both villages belonged to the estates with which Duke Boleslav II furnished the Benedictine monastery. In 1407 the Břevnov monastery sold both villages to the Cistercian monastery Königsaal for 190 shock groschen . After the end of the Hussite Wars , King Sigismund seized both villages and in 1437 transferred them to Matěj von Skuhrov and Petr von Obořiště. Subsequent owners of Vraný and Skochovice were the Karlstein burgrave Benesch von Weitmühl , later the villages were added to the Komořany estate. After the Battle of White Mountain , the Komořany manor belonging to Joachim Sturm von Hirschfeld was confiscated, and in 1622 the monastery royal hall Vraný and Skochovice bought back from the court chamber. In 1770 Vraný consisted of 20 houses. The church of St. George was a branch of the parish Königsaal.

After the abolition of the monastery in the course of the Josephine reforms in 1785, Wrana belonged to the rule of the Königsaal, which was administered by the Imperial and Royal Bohemian State Administration for the Religious Fund. A localist was hired by the Religious Fund in Wrana . In April 1827 Friedrich Kraft bought Heinrich zu Oettingen-Wallerstein the rule and ceded it to his wife Sophia Maria, née Landgrave von Fürstenberg († 1829). In 1832 the rule fell to the widower; after his death in 1845 his second wife Maria Anna, née Countess von Trauttmansdorff -Weinsberg, and his children from both marriages jointly inherited the property. The village could only be reached through a ford on the Moldauinsel, which led to the road from Davle via Königsaal to Smichow .

On March 5, 1837, the Prague book printer Gottlieb Haase Söhne bought homestead no. 1 with a board saw, mill and pub from the Königsaal rulership for 15,000 guilders. The purchase agreement also included an annual payment of 60 guilders as well as the obligation to purchase Königsaaler beer and to build a freight ferry. In the years 1838 and 1839 the kk state-authorized Wran paper mill was built on the banks of the Vltava and started operations in 1840. It had around 300 employees and was one of the largest companies in the rule. The factory consisted of two French paper machines with 20 Dutch machines, twelve of which were powered by water and eight by a high pressure steam engine. The value of the paper produced annually was given in the middle of the 19th century at 300,000 guilders. A mechanical workshop with 50-60 employees for the production of letterpress presses and machines for printing and type foundries was attached.

In 1846 the village Wran or Wrana / Wraně or Wraný in the Berauner district consisted of 33 houses with 220 inhabitants. Under the patronage of the Religious Fund stood the local church of St. Georg, the pub and the school. There was also the Gottlieb Haase Söhne paper mill and an inn in the village. Wran was the parish for Skochowitz ( Skochovice ), Swoll , Ohrobetz and Březowa ( Březová ). Until the middle of the 19th century, Wran remained subject to the rule of the Königsaal.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Vrané / Wran in 1849 a district of the municipality Skochovice in the judicial district of King's Hall . The owners of the paper mill had apartments built in Vrané for their employees, and the company also financed the construction of the new cemetery with chapel between Vrané and Skochovice. From 1869 the village belonged to the Smichow district . In the 1880s, the municipality was called Spojené obce Vran-Skochovic , later Skochovice-Vrané . In 1890 Vrané consisted of 52 houses in which 631 people lived. The Čerčan – Modřan – Dobříš railway was opened in 1897, followed by the railway to Eule in 1900 . In 1907 the construction of the road from Vrané via Zvole to Břežany began .

In the 20th century Vrané grew strongly; the terrace located southwest of the village between the Zvolský potok and the rocky valley of the Dravkov brook was built on, so that both places grew together. In 1927 Vrané was assigned to the Okres Praha-venkov and in 1942 to the Okres Praha-venkov-jih. Between 1930 and 1935 the Vltava was regulated and the Vrané hydropower plant was built. In 1936 the hydropower plant went into operation, in 1941 Vrané and Skochovice were electrified. In 1943 the municipality of Skochovice consisted of 263 houses and 1890 inhabitants, and there were about 100 holiday cottages. In 1949 the municipality of Skochovice was renamed Vrané nad Vltavou and at the same time assigned to Okres Praha-jih, since 1961 it has belonged to Okres Praha-západ . The decisive factor for the renaming was that the school, the post office, the train station, the municipal office, the police station, the cinema, the paper mill, the power station, the church and the rectory were in Vrané, whereas Skochovice only had the fire station and a train stop had to offer. After cargo ferry traffic across the Vltava was discontinued in 1965, a new road to the Vltava bridge in Zbraslav was built in 1969 as part of Action Z in the Vltava Valley . The municipality of Vrané nad Vltavou has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1993. The paper mill stopped production in September 2000. Skochovice lost its status as a district in 2002. During the August floods of 2002 , the Vltava reached a water level of 11 m below the power station; the place was largely flooded. The opposite state road II / 102 was under water up to the guardrails, from the ferry house only the chimney was visible. At the beginning of June 2013 Vrané nad Vltavou was hit again by a severe flood of the Vltava. 2408 people live in the 650 houses in the community, and there are also 568 holiday huts. The municipality is a member of the Dolnobřežansko microregion and was one of the founding members of the local action group MAS Dolnobřežansko in August 2012.
