history

Beska was first mentioned in writing on January 10, 1360, when King Charles IV enfeoffed the Magdeburg burgrave Johann von Hardegg with Kostelec Castle and the ten associated villages. Vestec belonged to the Kostelec Castle until 1437. Since Kuneš Rozkoš von Dubá, who owned Kostelec from 1443, undertook raids in the area, the castle was besieged by Zdenko von Sternberg and taken in 1450. From 1454 the village was under the administration of the Prague Old Town Magistrate and then became part of the Dolní Břežany rule . After the Battle of White Mountain in 1623, the estate belonging to Gabriel Christoph Želínský von Sebuzín was confiscated. In 1715 the Prague Archbishop Franz Ferdinand von Kuenburg acquired the rule; subsequently Vestec always remained in the possession of the Prague Archdiocese .

In 1843 Westetz consisted of 30 houses with 175 inhabitants, including a Protestant family. On the other side were the single layers Schatalka (four houses, including an inn and a smithy) and Drast (an official farm with a sheep farm). The parish was Kundratitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, Westetz remained subject to the Dolní Břežany rule.

After the abolition of the manors , Vesce formed a municipality in the judicial district of Owl from 1850 . The current form of the name Vestec has been used since the 1870s. From 1869 the municipality belonged to the Karolinenthal district , from 1878 to the Royal Vineyards District and from 1921 to the Okres Jílové. In 1930 there were 298 people living in Vestec. In 1950 the municipality was assigned to Okres Praha-východ , since 1961 it has belonged to Okres Praha-západ . The Československý rozhlas built a transmission tower in Šátalka in 1953, which was dismantled in 1983. In 1970 Vestec consisted of 104 houses and had 413 inhabitants. From 1980 to 1990 Vestec was incorporated into Jesenice. Since the end of the 20th century, Vestec's population has grown due to its location on the suburbs of the capital and the construction of new residential areas.
