Jesenice (German Jessenitz ) is a town in Okres Praha-západ , Czech Republic on the southern outskirts of Prague .

geography

Jesenice is located on the Prague plateau (Pražská plošina) on the Jesenický brook. The Botič flows through the district of Kocanda . Dálnice 0 bypasses the city to the south and west .

history

The first written mention took place in 1088 in a document of the collegiate chapter on the Vyšehrad in which King Vratislav II. The Vyšehrad Provostry left five farms and four pottery in Jesenice. From 1307 the village belonged to the Prague diocesan estates , later it became the property of the Prague St. Stephen's Church . In 1419 a large number of Hussites gathered on the Na Křížkách (Mandava) hill southeast of Jesenice .

After Jan Kopidlanský von Kopidlno was sentenced to death by the city of Prague in 1506 for killing Johann Zucker von Tamfeld at the Prague fair , his brother Jiří Kopidlanský swore revenge on the city for the unlawful conviction of a gentleman from the nobility by a civil court. During his feuds against the city, Jiří Kopidlanský burned Jesenice down in 1508. In 1571 an extension of the postal connection from Prague to Vienna was established in Jesenice . The Prague Archbishop Johann Moritz Gustav von Manderscheid-Blankenheim bought the property back for the Archdiocese in 1759 and added it to the Dolní Břežany diocese .

In 1843 Jessenitz or Gesenice consisted of 58 houses with 397 inhabitants, including two Protestant families. There was an aristocratic farm as well as a post office and inn in the village. Parish was Unter-Girčan ( Dolní Jirčany ). Until the middle of the 19th century, Jesenice remained subject to the Dolní Břežany rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Jesenice formed from 1850 a municipality in the judicial district of Owl . From 1869 the municipality belonged to the Karolinenthal district , from 1878 to the Royal Vineyards District and from 1921 to the Okres Jílové.

The school building was inaugurated in 1879. In 1893, the school was expanded to include two departments from a continuing trade school.

In 1950 the municipality was assigned to Okres Praha-východ , since 1961 it has belonged to Okres Praha-západ . In 2015 Jesenice was promoted to city.
