Praha- Slivenec is a district in the west of the Czech capital Prague . It belongs to the administrative district Prague 5 and consists of the two cadastral communities Slivenec (German Sliwenetz ) and Holyně (German Hollin ). The district has been part of Prague since 1974.
Quarry
Red limestone, known as Slivenecký mramor, is mined in Slivenec . There are 14 tombstones in Prague's St. Vitus Cathedral , which Benesch von Weitmühl had made in 1374 and which probably come from Slivenec. The oldest written mention of the quarry comes from 1515. Today the stone is mined by Mramor Dobřichovice . An educational trail provides information on the Sliwenetz marble.
