Březiněves (German: Weißkratschen ) is a cadastral municipality and a district ( Praha-Březiněves ) in the far north of the Czech capital Prague and belongs to the administrative district Prague 11 .

history

The first written mention of Březiněves comes from the year 1140. King Vladislav II donated the land to the Prague Knights of St. Mary (Church of St. Mary under the Chain ). After the Hussite Wars , Březiněves passed into secular possession until the Grand Prior of the Order of Malta, Bishop Jost II von Rosenberg , bought it in 1461 . The cross of the Johanniter and later Maltese can be seen in the coat of arms of Březiněves.

In 1976 the municipality was annexed to Prague.
