Prague 19 or Kbely (German Gbell , older also Quel ) is an administrative district and a district of the Czech capital Prague .
structure
The Prague 19 administrative district has existed since 2002 and is located on the northeastern edge of the city. It includes the Prague 19 district as well as the Satalice and Vinoř districts . Until 2007, Čakovice was also part of the Prague 19 district, which then became part of Prague 18 .
The Prague 19 district is identical to the Kbely cadastral community (German Gbel ).
history
The first historical mention of Kbely comes from the Přemyslid period . An entry in the land panels testifies to a donation from Soběslav I to the Vyšehrad monastery . The settlement comprising four courtyards was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War . The village was hit by a plague epidemic in 1680 and devastated again during the Seven Years' War . In the second half of the 19th century a brick factory was built in the rural village and the Prague-Všetaty railway was opened. In 1895 Kbely, which previously belonged to Vinoř, became an independent municipality. After the end of the monarchy, the first fully-fledged airfield in Czechoslovakia was opened here in 1918. In 1923, the first Czechoslovak radio station began operating under the name Radiojournal with regular broadcasts from Kbely airfield. In 1968 Kbely was incorporated into Prague.
Military airfield
The airport Kbely is the sixth aviation base of the Czech Air Force . A research institute for aviation and the Kbely Aviation Museum are located on the site .
