Prague 5 is an administrative district and a district of the Czech capital Prague . The Prague 5 and Slivenec districts belong to the Prague 5 administrative district .
The Prague 5 district includes the cadastral municipalities of Smíchov , Hlubočepy (including Barrandov and Zlíchov ), Radlice , Košíře and Motol , most of Jinonice and a small part of the Lesser Town and Břevnovs . The best known are the old film and villa district Barrandov, the business district Smíchov and the Lesser Town area around the Náměstí Kinských (market square). The Petřín and Kinský Gardens are green spaces .
Barrandov
Barrandov is an old part of town with glamorous mansions from the 1930s. The films Amadeus , James Bond and Pan Tau were made in the Barrandov Film Studios . Next to the film studios are the functionalist-style Barrandovské Terasy , a former luxury restaurant for the jet set of the 1930s. The new Barrandov is best known for its unusual tram stops (no. 20, 12 or 14) on the route to Sídliště Barrandov (Barrandov settlement). The award-winning project was designed by the architect Patrik Kotas.
Smíchov
In Smíchov there used to be numerous textile factories, breweries and a railway carriage and tram works. Today only the area of the Staropramen brewery remains. Since the political turnaround, the district has changed from a working-class district to an office and shopping center. The focal point is the Anděl metro station and intersection , which owes its name to a wall fresco on the facade of a house that fell victim to the construction boom in the 1980s. The editorial offices of Dnes , Mladá fronta and Lidové noviny are located in Anděl Media Center , and the radio station Expres also has its studio there.
Lesser Town
Prague 5 also includes a small part of the Lesser Town with a few blocks that stand on the site of the former village of Újezd outside the castle area. This area includes the streets Vítězná, Janáčkovo nábřeží, Petřínská, Mělnická, Plaská and the streets along the banks of the Vltava at the level of the Legion Bridge .
