Prague 18 or Letňany is an administrative district and a district of the Czech capital Prague and is located in the northeast of the city.

The Prague 18 administrative district comprises the two districts of Prague 18 and Čakovice . The Prague 18 district, in turn, is identical to the Letňany cadastral municipality (German Letnian ).

history

Letňany was first mentioned in 1347 as a farm . In 1850 the place became an independent municipality. In 1925 the Letňany airfield was established and the Letov aircraft factory moved from Kbely to Letňany.

In 1968 Letňany was incorporated into Prague. Numerous prefabricated buildings were erected in the 1970s and 1980s .

Infrastructure

Letňany has been the northern terminus of metro line C since 2008 .

There is an exhibition center in Letňany. The former Mayor of Prague Pavel Bém proposed during his term of office that the Summer Olympics be held there. Now the person responsible for the Prague application for the Catholic World Youth Day 2022, Jan Balík, plans to have it take place there.
