Kurt Zaro

Kurt Zaro (born January 9, 1929 - April 2003 ) was a German football player. From 1950 to 1962, the offensive player played a total of 135 league games with 44 goals in the football upper league West at the Rot-Weiss Essen and Schwarz-Weiß Essen clubs . In the 1951/52 season he was part of the RW Essen championship team in what was then the first-class Oberliga West, and with the team from Bergeborbeck he also made two appearances in the final round of the German soccer championship . When winning the championship in 1960/61 in the 2nd League West and thus returning to the Oberliga West with the team from the south of Essen, the ETB-Elf from Uhlenkrug, the outstanding technician had, he was from Willem II Tilburg in the summer of 1960 returned to his hometown club in Essen, with 14 goals in 21 league games significant share.

Zaro developed football in the youth department of Schwarz-Weiß Essen. When Helmut Rahn , another dangerous striker , came to RWE for the 1951/52 season alongside August Gottschalk and Bernhard Termath , he and his teammates celebrated winning the championship in the Oberliga West for the first time. For the round 1960/61 returned to his hometown club Black and White Essen. ETB played in the 2nd League West. As a playmaker he led the team of coach Hans Wendlandt with teammates such as Manfred Rummel , Theo Klöckner , Hans Küppers , Karl-Heinz Mozin , Heinz Steinmann and Horst Trimhold to the championship and return to the first-class Oberliga West. Zaro had scored 14 goals in 21 league appearances. Shortly before the introduction of the central soccer league in 1961/62 , Schwarz-Weiß Essen reached under coach Kuno Klötzer and West top scorer Manfred Rummel (26 goals) behind champions 1. FC Cologne, vice FC Schalke 04 and third, RW Oberhausen , the excellent fourth place. Veteran Zaro had scored five goals in 27 appearances. His last league game he played on March 31, 1962 in a 1: 4 away defeat at RW Oberhausen.

In Essen-Holsterhausen he ran a restaurant called "Zum Kurzio". After his playing days he was still active as a coach, including at VfB Wissen and at 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the 1966/67 series in the second-rate regional soccer league Southwest.
