The Mooslauter is a 10.3 km long left tributary of the Lauter ("Waldlauter") in Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany .

The Mooslauter rises about 1.5 km southeast of Mackenbach at an altitude of 235 m above sea level. NHN as Bruchbach . First flowing to the east, the brook turns to the south of Rodenbach to the north and flows through the village. After about 1.5 km, the Rischbach coming from the west joins the Rodenbach hamlet of Mückenhof as the most important tributary from the left. From here on, the stream is now called Mooslauter. After a further 4.3 km, the Mooslauter flows across from Hirschhorn at 209 m above sea level. NHN on the left in the Lauter .
On its 10.3 km long path, the Mooslauter overcomes a height difference of 26 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 2.5 ‰. The brook drains a 50.517 km² catchment area via Lauter, Glan , Nahe and Rhine to the North Sea .

environment
The Mooslauter is one of the fine material rich, carbonate low mountain range brooks. The structure of the water has changed largely to very much. At Rodenbach there are also completely changed sections. The water quality from Rodenbach to the mouth is given as moderately polluted (as of 2005).
In 1983, 185 hectares in the source area of the Mooslauter were designated as the Rodenbacher Bruch nature reserve, followed in 1987 by a 28 hectare area east of Weilerbach as the Krausenbruch nature reserve .
