Lenka Župková

Lenka Župková (born June 3, 1970 in Prague ) is a Czech violinist, violist, composer with a focus on new, electronic music and scenic musical room productions.

Life

She completed her violin studies at the Janáček Academy for Music in Brno and at the Hanover University of Music and Drama with a diploma. From 1995 to 2000 she worked as a temporary worker with orchestras in Germany (NDR Hannover, Das Neue Ensemble Köln, L`Arco Hannover).

As a soloist on violin, electric violin and viola, Župková performs with audio designer Andre Bartetzki , flautist Lenka Kozderkova (Duo Goelan) and with the ensemble reflexion k. With the dancer and choreographer Mikael Honesseau, she has been leading the interdisciplinary music ensemble Megaphon in Hanover since 2007.

She also created incidental music for the theaters in Zurich, Nuremberg, Hanover, Berlin and Aachen.

Lenka Župková is known for her solo performances in special locations, her multimedia projects (contemporary music, modern dance, sound and video art) and room productions. She is looking for expanded sound possibilities, by preparing and amplifying the violin she develops new playing techniques and sound mixes.

Her concert activities have taken her to Germany, France, the Czech Republic, England, Poland and Switzerland. She had television and radio appearances in Germany and the Czech Republic.

In close collaboration with composers, several works for solo violin, live electronics and for chamber ensemble have been dedicated to her.

Her debut CD at Schott Verlag Prague - Hanover , with works by V. Globokar, A. Schlünz, D. Hahne, A. Bartetzki, T.Töpp, P. Köszeghy, L. Zupkova was sounded by the press for their daring Experiment and praised for their virtuosity.

In August 1995 Župková received a scholarship for summer courses in Darmstadt. In August 2001 she received a grant from the Ostrava Center For New Music and in December 2002 a work grant from the state of Lower Saxony for composition. In November 2005, Lenka Župková performed at the GEDOK national concert in the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin. In May 2006 she received an order from the Czech Radio for an electroacoustic composition. She was a finalist in the Musica Nova 2006 competition for electroacoustic music in Prague.
