Lennart Backman

Lennart Backman (actually Kurt Lennart Ingemar Backman , born February 7, 1934 in Skellefteå ) is a former Swedish football , bandy and ice hockey player .

Career

Backman played football at Skellefteå IF in his hometown as a youth . In 1956 he moved to IFK Norrköping in Fotbollsallsvenskan . After 32 games in which the midfielder scored six goals, he moved to AIK in 1957 . Up until the end of his career in 1968, he played 173 top-class games and scored 34 goals. After relegation to Division 1 in 1961 , he remained loyal to the club and helped with 17 goals in 21 games for direct promotion. Between 1958 and 1966, Backman also played 31 international matches for the Swedish national football team .

Backman played for Katrineholms SK Bandy and ice hockey before moving to AIK Solna . With AIK he narrowly missed national titles several times.

Backman was recognized as a Stor Grabb in both football and bandy .
