history

Skellefteå IF was founded in the late 1910s. The first successes were achieved in cross-country skiing when the club won the team championship at the Swedish championships in 1927.

The club's ice hockey team briefly attracted attention in 1945 when they celebrated their greatest success by reaching the quarter-finals of the Swedish championship.

The football team was promoted to third-class Division 3 Norra Norrland in 1954 . There she established herself in the front of the table and reached in 1957 with twelve wins in 18 games before local rivals Sunnanå SK, the relay victory , which meant promotion to the second division. There she missed relegation as the bottom of the table and had to relegate with Gefle IF and Bodens BK . After three years in the third division, the club managed to rise again, again the stay in Division 2 Norrland lasted only one season and the team had to relegate together with IFK Kalix and again Bodens BK. There she also missed relegation and after a season in the fourth division, the department left the club to join Skellefteå AIK . The merged football department became independent in 2000 and has been playing under the name Skellefteå FF since 2006.

The development in the field of athletics ran almost parallel to the soccer team. Athletes in the department celebrated isolated successes in the first half of the 20th century before the section also joined local rivals Skellefteå AIK. In the 1990s a new establishment took place, and club members again achieved occasional national successes.
