Leo Khasin

Leonid "Leo" Khasin (born April 29, 1973 in Moscow ) is a German director . After studying dentistry, he lives in Berlin . Khasin comes from an Eastern European Jewish family who lived in Waltrop ( Recklinghausen district ) after their immigration .

Life

At the age of twelve, Leo Khasin was cast by the Russian exile director Efraim Sevela for his film The Lullaby (Kołysanka) . He later studied dentistry at the Free University of Berlin. Until 2001, Khasin worked as a dentist. Then he attended the Kaskeline Film Academy in Berlin. He finished with the film Dear Mother , which received the audience award at the Wismar Film Festival .

Leo Khasin later worked as a unit manager and assistant in various film, television and music productions. His short film Durst (2003) was nominated for the German Short Film Award. Kickback (short film) was shown at the Berlinale in 2005 .

From 2006 to 2007 he studied at the Hamburg School of Authors.

In his work as a dentist, Khasin said he was confronted with many fates during the award at the church film festival Recklinghausen in 2012, which he dealt with in his debut film Kaddisch for a friend .
