Leo Van Aken
Leo Van Aken (born November 30, 1857 in Antwerp ; † January 11, 1904 there ) was a Belgian genre and portrait painter.
Leo Van Aken studied from 1876 to 1880 at the Académie royale des beaux-arts d'Anvers with Polydore Beaufaux . He was also a student of the painter Louis Hendrix (1827–1888).
In February 1891 he was one of the founders of the Antwerp circle of "Les XIII" consisting of former members of the "Als ik Kan" group.
His painting "Misére humaine" brought him a gold medal at the art exhibition in Barcelona in 1898 .
He died at the age of 47.
