On March 1, 1932, the section of the street from Syntagma Square to the Ambelokipi neighborhood was renamed in honor of Queen Sophia . The rest of the street kept its name. At the beginning of the 20th century, the road was paved and trolleybuses and tram lines were built. Buildings were built in the neoclassical style and after the First World War and the Greek Civil War , modern buildings with up to 10 floors were built.

geography

The street begins on the north side of the Greek Parliament on the northeast corner of Syntagma Square. There are connections to Odos Vasileos Georgiou A , Odos Eleftheriou Venizelou , and Leoforos Vasilissas Amalias . It runs from there to the east, along the north side of the National Garden (Ethnikos Kipos). At the Platia Pavlou Mela , where the Odos Irodotou and Odos Rigillis (Οδός Ρηγίλλης) join, it bends slightly to the northeast and continues on the north side of the Byzantine and Christian Museum . Then it becomes multi-lane and continues between Parko Rizari (Πάρκο Ριζάρη) and Evangelismos Park (Πάρκο Ευαγγελισμού). At the end of this, the Leoforos Vasileos Konstandinou unites with her at the place of the Great School of the People (Πλατεία Μεγάλης του Γένους Σχολής Platia megalis tou genous scholis) and at the place of the Evangelical School of Smyrna (ελλλρης εομyrης iaκσης Σχομyrnis ονης iaκήolis). After a distance of only about 2.8 km, the name changes to Leoforos Kifisias .
