Leon Barszczewski in Samarkand

Leon Barszczewski (born February 20, 1849 in Warsaw , † March 22, 1910 in Czestochowa ) was a Polish ethnographer .

He made trips to Tienschan , the Hisar and Darvazsikiy mountains and the Pamir - Altai region . He documented the trips photographically . He transported the photographs on heavy glass slide plates to Samarkand , where he developed them. He left 3,500 photographs that document the Central Asia region at the end of the 19th century.
