Leon Henze (born March 9, 1992 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Leon Henze played for TSV Destedt in the Wolfenbüttel district until the age of eleven before he came to Wolfsburg, where he attended the Waldorf School. After three years with the district club SV Reislingen - Neuhaus , he joined the youth team of the Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in 2006 .

In Lower Saxony, he played in the U-17 in the Junior Bundesliga North / Northeast and was captain of the team, in 2009 they came first and made it to the semi-finals of the German championship. After that, however, he had to struggle with complex health problems and was completely out of action for a whole season. Nevertheless, he was immediately captain again in 2010 in the U-19s. With this team he also won the league and at the end of his junior years he won the German championship title of the A-youth this time .

With the expiry of his contract, Henze wanted to move to a new environment and did not expect an easy jump to the Bundesliga team under professional coach Felix Magath . Therefore, he moved to SV Werder Bremen , where he was immediately included in the squad of the third division team. From the first day of the 2011/12 season, the midfielder was in the starting line-up of the Hanseatic U-23 team.
