Leonard Tarnawski
Leonard Tarnawski (born December 21, 1845 in Piskorowice , † September 6, 1930 in Przemyśl ) was a Polish lawyer , politician and veteran of the January uprising .
When the January uprising broke out in Congress Poland in 1863 , Tarnawski, who had just graduated from high school, joined the rebel units. After he was wounded, he returned home and passed his high school diploma in 1865, before completing a doctorate in law at the University of Lwów . In 1877 he married Wincenta Waygart, the daughter of the mayor of Przemyśl . Their son Władysław Tarnawski, born in 1885, became a linguist.
In 1902 Tarnawski was elected as a member of the Endecja in the Galician state parliament. After Poland regained independence in 1918, he was elected to the constituent Sejm a year later . As a member of the Constitutional Commission, he played a key role in the Polish constitution of March 17, 1921.
After his death, a street in Przemyśl, where he had become an honorary citizen, was named after him.
