Leonardo Pedroza
Sixto Leonardo Pedroza Abreu (born November 6, 1912 in Caracas ; † July 8, 1976 ibid) was a Venezuelan musician and orchestra conductor.
Pedroza played the trombone, saxophone and trumpet in the Banda Marcial de Caracas under the direction of Pedro Elías Gutiérrez . He was then first trumpeter in the Los Hermanos Belisario Orchestra and conducted the Orquesta Leonard Melody around 1947-48 , with which he made the first recordings with Celia Cruz .
In the mid-1960s he founded Los Caciques , with which musicians such as Alberto Naranjo , Memo Morales , Johnny Pedrón , Carlín Rodríguez , Roberto Monserrat , El Negrito Calavén , Willie Bossanova and César Pinto performed. Several of them later left the orchestra and founded El Combo Latino , which Federico Betancourt later joined.
The Caciques continued their activity as a dance orchestra and appeared with the singers Carmencita Carvajal , Johnny Morales and Carlos Rafael Yánez from 1966 as the Pedroza y su Orquesta Show . In 1967 the singer Rafa Robles was added, and the orchestra released - now under the name La Charanga de Pedroza - the album of the same name.
