Leopold Binental
Leopold Jan Binental (born January 10, 1886 in Kielce ; † April 1, 1944 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a Polish musicologist and teacher.
Life
Binental studied at the Paris Conservatory and the Schola Cantorum . From 1914 to 1939 he was a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. He was also chairman of the Warsaw Music Society from 1916 to 1919 and a member of the board of directors of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute from 1934 to 1939 .
Among other things, he published a monograph on Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw in 1930: Chopin. W 120-ta rocznice urodzin. Documenty i pamiatki (Chopin. On the 120th anniversary of his birth. Documents and memorabilia).
He was born with Janina Binental. Heilpern (born August 1, 1889 in Warsaw, † April 1, 1944 in Auschwitz) married. In 1940 they and their daughter Krystyna Janina fled from occupied Warsaw to France , where they were arrested in 1944 and deported to Auschwitz. Both were murdered there on the same day.
