Leopold Eckhart (politician, 1900)

Leopold Eckhart (born January 31, 1900 in Altenberg ; † November 28, 1974 in Zeiselmauer ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and railway worker. Eckhart was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1949 to 1954 and from 1957 to 1959 .

Eckhart attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. He joined the railroad in 1916 and did military service in 1918. He was subsequently an employee of the ÖBB and was involved in the union. In 1949 legal proceedings were opened against him for political activity. After his retirement in 1947, Eckhart represented the SPÖ from November 5, 1949 to November 10, 1954 and from October 24, 1957 to April 10, 1959 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. He was also mayor of Zeiselmauer from 1945 to 1970.
